David began his insurance career at the Janson Green Syndicate in 1986, specialising in Marine and Energy Casualty. He became a director of the company in 1993 and Head of Casualty in 1998. He joined AEGIS London as a director in 2000 as Head of Casualty. He became the Chief Underwriter Officer in 2007 and has been instrumental in the growth and diversification of the Syndicate since then. In 2015, he became Managing Director of AEGIS London. David sits on various market committees and has been Chairman of the Marine Committee of Lloyd’s.
Alex is the Active Underwriter for Lloyd’s Syndicate 1225 and Executive Director of AEGIS Managing Agency Limited. Alex joined AEGIS London in 2000 as a Deputy Class Underwriter for Property to develop a new portfolio, having previously held an underwriting post at Janson Green Syndicate 79. Alex started his career at CT Bowring as a North American property broker in 1994. Alex has been a member and past chair of the Lloyd’s Market Association’s Worldwide Property Panel.
Head of Specialty
Prior to joining AEGIS London, Simon was at Atrium Syndicate for thirty years. During that time, he performed various roles including Marine Underwriter, Head of Claims and Reinsurance Buyer, and for the last seven years at the company, he held the position of Chief Operating Officer. Simon joined AEGIS London in 2012 and as well as being a Hull Underwriter he oversees the Specialty accounts. Simon has been on a number of Lloyd’s market committees, including being a previous Vice-Chairman of the Joint Hull Committee.
Head of Marine and Energy
Richard began his career in the Lloyd’s market in 1986 with lead Syndicate Janson Green. There he acquired experience in all areas of the Syndicate’s Marine and Energy accounts. He joined AEGIS London in 2000 and is now Head of Marine & Energy. Richard is a member of both the Joint Rig Committee and LMA Marine Committee.
Deputy Active Underwriter
Matt is Deputy Active Underwriter of Lloyd’s Syndicate 1225 with responsibility for all Casualty Underwriting, and is an Executive Director of AEGIS Managing Agency Limited. He joined AEGIS London in 2010, having been a member of the Group Exco at Aspen and Deputy CUO at Wellington and Catlin before that. Matt started his insurance career over 25 years ago with IC Agnew and others.
Head of Broker Relations
Nigel is the AEGIS London Head of Broker Relations. He has responsibility for strategic relations across Syndicate 1225 and has been heavily involved in developing the strategy for the Syndicate over the past three years. He joined AEGIS London in 2014 from Willis where he was Head of Placement in their London operation. Prior to that, Nigel was the Managing Director of the Specialty Division at Aon in London. He has 35 years experience in the London insurance market.
Head of Risk & Governance
Ruth is the Head of Risk & Governance for AEGIS London. Having joined in 2008 to develop both the risk management and internal audit functions for the Syndicate, she is now responsible for the Risk Management and Delegated Underwriting Authority teams. Ruth is a qualified chartered accountant and started her career at Deloitte before holding both risk management and internal audit roles in the London insurance market.
Risk & Compliance Director
Graeme is the Risk & Compliance Director of AEGIS London, responsible for the company’s ERM framework, Exposure Management Function, Compliance Function, and relationships with the company’s regulators. Graeme was previously Head of Regulation and Compliance at Endurance and Montpelier at Lloyd’s. Prior to this, Graeme held various insurance supervisory roles during nearly ten years at the Prudential Regulation Authority and its predecessor, the Financial Services Authority. During this time, he acted as Head of London Market Supervision where he had oversight of the London insurance market during a period of significant regulatory change, leading the establishment and implementation of Solvency II for the Lloyd’s market.
Chief Financial Officer
Hermien joined AEGIS London in 2016 from MS Amlin where she was CFO of Syndicate 2001. She was a board member of Amlin Underwriting Ltd and a member of their audit and risk committees. A Dutch national, Hermien has been a CFO of several companies in the Netherlands and came into Amlin after their purchase of the Fortis Group. She also spent 14 years with KPMG working her way up to a senior manager in their audit practice.
Head of Operations
Marianne joined AEGIS London in 2012 as Head of Internal Audit. Prior to entering the insurance market, she held various financial services audit roles including at PwC and Rothschild. She is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Marianne oversees the operational functions and supports AEGIS London underwriting and claims activities.
