Matt started his insurance career with I C Agnew & Others and, in 1998, became Divisional Liability underwriter for Wellington Syndicate 2020. In 2001, Matt joined the Wellington Underwriting Executive and Board of Wellington Underwriting Agencies Ltd as Director, responsible for all casualty and marine underwriting and, in 2006, he became Deputy CUO of Wellington and then Deputy Active underwriter of Catlin Syndicate 2003 following the Catlin Group's acquisition of Wellington. Matt joined Aspen in 2007 as Head of International Insurance and as a member of the Group Executive Committee. In 2008, he became Active underwriter of Aspen's newly formed Syndicate 4711. Matt joined AEGIS London in 2010 as Head of Casualty and a Director of AEGIS Managing Agency Ltd, and became Deputy Active underwriter in 2015. Matt has written a wide range of casualty classes but in particular has focused on construction, transportation, manufacturing, energy and other specialist US onshore liability risks.
