Squires will lead the syndicate’s distribution strategy and a new distribution function, strengthening AEGIS London’s relationships with brokers and strategic clients, while driving growth opportunities.
Squires, who has headed AEGIS London’s digital trading division since 2019, will continue to build on the significant progress the syndicate has made in developing digital solutions and widening access to its underwriting expertise. He will continue to report directly to Matt Yeldham, Chief Underwriting Officer, AEGIS London.
As part of the new structure, Calum Williams has been appointed to Deputy Head of Digital Trading, having previously served as Digital Development Manager.
Commenting on his appointment, Squires said:
“I am proud and excited to be taking on these new responsibilities at such a pivotal time for AEGIS London. Our focus is on deepening and broadening relationships with brokers and clients, building relationships based on trust, responsiveness and underwriting expertise. As the market evolves, we’re committed to making access to our syndicate’s capacity simpler, while ensuring clients fully understand the breadth of our product suite and capabilities. This approach will unlock further profitable growth in areas where AEGIS London has clear strengths.
“The launch of our Portfolio Solutions initiative earlier this year underlined our commitment to the future workflows of the London Market. By embracing innovation and rethinking distribution, we are positioning ourselves to capture the opportunities that will define the next decade in specialty insurance and beyond.”
Alex Powell, Chief Executive Officer, AEGIS London, said:
“Underwriting excellence will always sit at the heart of AEGIS London. But as the way business is traded continues to change, we’re evolving to ensure we remain relevant and accessible to our clients and to brokers. AEGIS London is focused on delivering coherent and comprehensive access points for brokers for every size and type of risk, whether via digital portal or face-to-face discussion, and Tom’s new role will lead our future strategy across all access points for clients and brokers.”
Matt Yeldham, Chief Underwriting Officer, AEGIS London, added:
“Over the past few years, we’ve invested heavily in our systems, our data capabilities, and the way we engage with the market. Tom has been instrumental in driving this transformation. His new role ensures AEGIS London will continue to respond to business in a broader, more agile way, while strengthening our client and broker relationships across both traditional and digital routes to market.”
AEGIS London has been consistently ranked in the top quartile of Lloyd’s syndicates for financial performance for more than a decade.
